SOUND FUTURE EXPOSITIONS

Putting your passion to work.

Since 2016, Sound Future has been connecting creatives to aspiring youth. Birthed as a RISE San Diego Urban Fellowship Community Action Project by founder Ferchil Ramos, we've been conducting a creative career expo we've called Sound Future to show youth thriving examples of Black, brown, and indigenous creatives from communities similar to the ones our attendees are raised in and with.

In 2019, we expanded our program offerings to further help youth from our communities be inspired by creatives that look like them through workshops and discussions leading up to our larger creative career expo. Our workshop attendees are able to learn from Emmy Award winners, San Diego Music Award recipients, Broadway performers, and many other talented professionals who mirror our attendees' lived experiences.

Our free events allow us to expose these future professionals to success stories, role models and potential mentors, and career opportunities in the arts. In 2024 we aim to expand our offerings to have a larger and more immediate impact by introducing our apprenticeship program where our participants have access to resources and information to help begin the path to a successful and rewarding professional career as a creative.

BUILDING OUR FUTURE

PANELS

Through learning different arts disciplines (Event planning, Branding and Design, Audio and Video production, and Set Building and Environmental Design) people will learn from the experts themselves and gain insight about the skills and tools that are needed to tap into the creative economy.

PERFORMANCES

During the Sound Future Creative Career Expo, attendees can take in performances from local musicians, poets, and other artists to see how it truly takes more than just the people on the stage to have a memorable performance, it takes a whole community lifting up the performers and their work.

PARTNERSHIP

By partnering with individuals and organizations that are aligned with, together we can build the future that we want to see together by shared solidarity and co-creation.

In the past, we've partnered with RISE San Diego, A Reason To Survive, Soul Sunday, The La Jolla Playhouse, Pacific Arts Movement, Urban Beats, and many others.

Sound Future: Retrospective (2022)

On August 6, 2022, we reminded our audience about the power of collaborating with a creative community. By partnering up with ARTS for their Summer Jam, we inspired the youth audience and others by having successful creatives from our communities share their experiences. We also had performances from Sound Collage, Kahlil Nash, and Dauché was the sound provider to wrap up the event.

My Sound Future (2016)

The inaugural Sound Future Creative Career Expo was held on April 23rd, 2016 at one of the most inspirational spaces in San Diego county – the ARTS campus in National City. We connected youth to successful creative professionals through a series of panels, presentations, and performances. People were able to hear from those that have found ways to apply their imagination to their work!
